Job Description: Plant Head (Manufacturing) — MARS Cosmetics
Location: Baddi, Himachal Pradesh
Function: Manufacturing / Supply Chain
Role Summary
Own end-to-end manufacturing at the Baddi plant—delivery, quality, cost, compliance, safety, and people. Build a disciplined, scalable factory system for cosmetics production (bulk + filling/packing), with strong GMP, process control, and daily management.
Key Responsibilities
Plant ownership: Run daily operations across production, packing, maintenance, warehouse, dispatch; ensure output meets plan (OTIF).
Quality & compliance: Ensure GMP/ISO (as applicable), hygiene, documentation, audits, traceability, deviations/CAPA, change control; partner closely with QA/QC.
Productivity & cost: Drive OEE, line efficiency, yield, scrap reduction, downtime reduction; lead cost-out and value engineering initiatives.
Planning & inventory: Align S&OP with production scheduling; manage RM/PM/WIP/FG inventory accuracy and working capital.
People leadership: Lead and develop production/engineering/warehouse teams; set KRAs, shift discipline, training, performance management, culture.
Maintenance & engineering: Own preventive maintenance, utilities, spares, breakdown response; manage new line installation/commissioning and capex.
Safety & EHS: Ensure EHS compliance, risk assessments, incident investigations, safety training, and a safe-shopfloor culture.
Continuous improvement: Implement Lean/6σ tools (Kaizen, 5 S, SOP standardization, visual management, root-cause).
Vendor/contractor management: Manage contractors, service providers, and key local vendors; ensure adherence to SOPs and safety norms.
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
Stable OTIF performance with predictable daily output and minimal firefighting.
Measurable improvement in OEE, wastage, and changeover time.
Audit-ready documentation and strong GMP discipline across shifts.
A trained second line of leaders (shift in-charges, supervisors) and clear shopfloor accountability.
Qualifications & Experience
B. Tech/BE (Mechanical/Chemical/Industrial) or equivalent; MBA a plus.
10–18 years in manufacturing; 5+ years leading a plant/large unit as Plant Head / Unit Head / Operations Head.
Experience in cosmetics/personal care/pharma/FMCG preferred (regulated hygiene + batch processes).
Strong working knowledge of GMP, quality systems, maintenance systems, and production planning.
Must-Have Skills
Shopfloor leadership with strong execution rhythm (daily review, loss tree, RCAs).
Process orientation: SOPs, documentation discipline, data-driven decisions.
Cost, productivity, and line optimization mindset.
Ability to scale operations: people, systems, and capacity expansion.
