The Opportunity

This position is responsible for managing the Employee Health department and providing treatment and follow‑up care for injured employees. The role includes implementing Corporate, Divisional, and Plant health policies and procedures in accordance with the American Nurses Association and the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing wellness programs and coordinating Workers’ Compensation and Disability Case Management.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide nursing treatment to ill and/or injured employees.
  • Schedule medical appointments and follow‑up visits with external medical providers.
  • Coordinate return‑to‑work efforts.
  • Conduct initial and periodic physical examinations and testing.
  • Prepare and maintain medical and safety records, accident investigations, and statistical data.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to Workers’ Compensation and OSHA.
  • Educate and train employees on disease prevention, wellness, and fitness topics.
  • Collaborate with Safety and Training departments to develop specialized or mandated training programs.
  • Review and negotiate external medical services and pricing.
  • Ensure appropriate medical treatment for employees reporting to Employee Health.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of Workers’ Compensation claims and all aspects of Disability Case Management.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) and active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Occupational Health, preferably in private commercial industries, emergency rooms, or similar healthcare environments.
  • Fully bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to effectively communicate with Corporate and Division Nursing teams and EHS personnel.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to make sound medical decisions in a dispensary setting, working collaboratively with physicians, employees, and supervisors.
  • Proven experience in Private Employee Case Management, including application of:OSHAHIPAASINOTFMLAOther relevant regulations
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the HRSC Health group and Arecibo Leadership, ensuring alignment and communication on all health‑related matters.
