Power BI Developer (4–5 Years Experience)
Role Summary
• Experienced Power BI Developer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade BI solutions for manufacturing and chemical process operations.
• Partner with business stakeholders (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Sales, Finance, Procurement, EHS, HR) to translate requirements into performant data models, dashboards, and analytics.
• Own end-to-end delivery from data sourcing and modelling to visualization, governance, and user enablement, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop data models (Star/Snowflake) and DAX measures for complex KPIs such as production output, yield, downtime, OEE, batch quality, procurement lead times, and sales margin analytics.
• Design and publish interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI Service with row-level security (RLS)and workspace governance.
• Optimize Power Query (M) transformations, incremental refresh policies, and dataset performance (composite models, aggregations).
• Integrate diverse data sources (SAP HANA/SQL, Excel, APIs, OT/DCS historians) and create robust ETL pipelines.
• Implement CI/CD practices for Power BI (deployment pipelines) and maintain versioning and release notes.
• Define and enforce semantic layer standards, naming conventions, documentation, and data quality checks.
• Collaborate with IT/OT teams to ensure secure data access across Fortinet or similar network stacks and follow best practices for data governance.
• Conduct stakeholder workshops, UAT, and end-user training; provide L2/L3 support for BI products.
• Work on-site at client location and travel to plants as and when needed; align deliverables with production schedules.
Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor's/Master's in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
• 4–5 years of hands-on experience as a Power BI Developer in manufacturing/chemicals or similar domains.
• Expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), data modelling, and visualization best practices.
• Strong SQL skills; familiarity with SAP HANA, REST APIs, and data warehousing concepts (ETL/ELT).
• Experience with Power BI Service administration: gateways, RLS, workspace management, deployment pipelines.
• Performance tuning for large datasets; incremental refresh, aggregations, and partitions.
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance; experience with RACI and documentation standards.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and ability to work independently in a fast- paced environment.
Nice to Have
• Exposure to manufacturing OT systems (Yokogawa/Emerson/Siemens DCS/SCADA), historians, and OEE frameworks.
• Azure data stack (Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks), Python/R for analytics, and Power Automate for workflows.
• Experience creating KPI scorecards, drill-through report navigation, and paginated reports (Report Builder).
• Knowledge of Fortinet or similar network security integrations for data connectivity.
Employment Terms
• Role is based at the client location; travel to plant sites will be required as and when needed.
• The person will follow the client's holiday calendar and shift schedules where applicable.
• Adhere to client policies on data privacy, information security, and safety (including plant PPE and induction).
• Working hours and on-call support may align with production needs during critical deployments.
