Ironworker I
SUMMARY
Mortenson is currently seeking an Ironworker I that will be responsible for marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up, flag, and inspect a crane; inspect rigging properlyCheck in truck deliveries against bill of lading; direct forklift/crane to unload delivery truckShake out rebar, distribute/organize accordingly; use pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wireCut excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torchInstall mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together; install caps on vertical rebar dowels for safetyReceive and offload all major components; install loose components for nacelle, hub, and tower preparationConnect blades to hub; set base and tower sections; handle taglinesClimb ladders (average 80m); effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levelsAll other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GEDMinimum four (4) years of related experienceMust have passed the Apprentice Aptitude TestCurrent driver’s license Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; knowledge of equipment and their uses; understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication); ability to work independently.Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements*Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.Please note: this position description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
