About the Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced Principal Architect – Network Operations to play a senior leadership role shaping and governing the technology architecture that underpins large-scale logistics and network operations.

This role is responsible for leading architecture strategy, roadmaps, and delivery across a complex operational technology and enterprise IT landscape. You will act as the key interface between business portfolios and enterprise architecture functions, ensuring alignment to broader technology strategy while driving pragmatic, value-focused outcomes.

You will lead a team of architects and work closely with senior business and technology leaders, vendors, and delivery teams to define future-state architectures that are scalable, secure, data-driven, and AI-ready.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Architecture Leadership

• Own and deliver end-to-end architecture strategy and roadmaps for network and logistics operations
• Define current, transitional, and target-state architectures aligned to enterprise strategy
• Ensure portfolio initiatives align with enterprise-wide architecture standards, principles, and governance
• Represent portfolio needs at architecture councils, governance forums, and strategy working groups
• Provide architectural leadership during business strategy, planning, and major transformation initiatives

Stakeholder & Executive Engagement

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior business and technology stakeholders
• Present complex technical concepts clearly to executive and committee-level audiences
• Provide enterprise-level guidance while ensuring business priorities are reflected in architectural decisions
• Build strong relationships across IT, operations, and external partners

Delivery, Governance & Risk

• Govern architecture across both agile and waterfall delivery models
• Ensure solutions meet information security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
• Provide architectural oversight and technical escalation for major initiatives
• Balance ideal architectural outcomes with pragmatic cost, risk, and delivery constraints

Innovation & Future Focus

• Identify emerging technologies and trends across logistics platforms, automation, robotics, telematics, and OT
• Lead discovery and trialling of innovative solutions that deliver measurable business value
• Promote reuse of enterprise capabilities and reduce duplication across the technology landscape

Essential Experience & Background

Architecture & Transformation

• 10+ years’ experience in architecture-related roles within large, complex organisations
• Proven experience as a senior or enterprise architect in an ASX200 or equivalent large-scale environment
• Strong background delivering complex architectures for major transformation or modernisation programs
• Experience defining and implementing technology strategies and roadmaps

Domain & Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of logistics and network operations technology landscapes
• Experience with logistics software platforms, system integration, and operational technology (OT)
• Exposure to automation, robotics, telematics, optimisation platforms, and 3PL ecosystems
• Knowledge of information security standards, data governance, and regulatory frameworks

Leadership & Communication

• Demonstrated experience presenting to executive and senior leadership audiences
• Ability to articulate architectural vision in clear business terms
• Strong collaboration skills across direct and indirect teams
• Commercial acumen with experience working with financially sensitive information
