Principal Engineer, Mechanical Systems

Job Purpose

Plan, lead, and deliver on key engineering for Acid Regeneration Plants (ARP) and also

furnaces and ovens for strip processing lines that enable to achieve operational excellenceand support the growth objectives of the organisation.

- Development of new design engineering.

- Ensure timely completion of engineering, timely ordering & delivery.
- Self and Team Development.

3. Key Responsibilities

- Control teams of Engineers and Draughtsman, to carry out engineering activities.

- Planning the design activities for the project and for the team.
- Ensure timely completion of the activities.

- Providing P & ID, Data Sheets as per the requirement.

- Making Design calculations.

- Selection of bought out components

- Preparation of models using 3D softwares like AutoDesk Inventor.

- Ensure correctness of the drawings, documents prepared by the team.

- Co-ordination with global entities of JC.

- Co-ordination with other departments like planning, manufacturing, QC, Erection and

commissioning.

- Communication with customer, participation in technical discussions with customer

- Ensure use of BAT (Best Available Technology) in the equipment’s designed.

4. Qualification and Experience

The candidate should be a

- B.E./B.Tech Mechanical/Chemical Engineering with 5- 12 years of experience, in large

engineering/project/heavy engineering industry.
- Thorough knowledge of designing ARPs along with design calculations.

- Hands on knowledge and practical experience of making in 2D and 3D models on

leading design platforms such as Auto Cad, AutoDesk Inventor, Plant 3D.

- Use of iLogic, parametric modelling will be an added qualification

- Should have handled a drafting team and engineers.

- Experience in interpreting complex needs and delivering heavy engineering

solutions.

Technical Competencies

- Complete process knowledge of ARP with additional knowledge of steel strip processing

lines and thermal equipment.
- Knowledge on Value Engineering

- Knowledge of Machine Design, System, Process, and analytical skills

- Thorough knowledge of reading and preparing drawings

- Good knowledge of process equipment related to Mechanical/thermal system.

- Good at Planning & Decision-Making skills.

- Good experience of thermal and process calculations..

- Process knowledge of Galvanizing, Color coating will be preferred.
