We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer – Material Handling  to provide technical leadership across complex engineering projects within the Oil & Gas sector . This role focuses on the development, review, and approval of material handling studies , layouts, and engineering documentation for static and rotating equipment. The position requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant material handling solutions throughout the project lifecycle. With extensive exposure to detailed design environments, the role plays a critical part in optimizing equipment accessibility, maintainability, and constructability across large-scale industrial facilities.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and lead material handling studies , including the preparation, checking, and approval of material handling study reports for equipment and in-line instruments.
  • Develop and review material handling routes and layouts  to support installation, operation, and maintenance activities.
  • Interpret and utilize material handling device catalogues and GA drawings , including deck cranes, monorail trolley hoists, pad eyes, pulling eyes, shackles, slings, chain hoists, skates, carts, and trolleys.
  • Participate in 3D model reviews  at 30%, 60%, and 90% design stages to validate material handling feasibility and accessibility.
  • Review and evaluate supplier and vendor packages , ensuring material handling requirements are addressed in accordance with project specifications.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical documents  for static and rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, fans, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and filters, with a focus on material handling and maintenance considerations.
  • Support the preparation and validation of equipment lists  and associated engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, clients, suppliers, and site teams to manage interface engineering and resolve material handling–related issues effectively.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering  or a related technical discipline.
  • 13–20 years of experience  in detailed design engineering for material handling within the Oil & Gas industry .
  • Strong proficiency in Navisworks, AutoCAD, MS Office, and PDF tools  for design review and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with complex equipment packages such as Gas Turbine Combined Cycle systems, compressor packages, chemical injection systems, and electrochlorination packages .
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills , enabling effective collaboration with global stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet demanding project deadlines.
  • A self-motivated, proactive professional with the ability to work independently and apply sound engineering judgment to complex challenges.
