About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Proposals Engineer to lead the development of high-quality technical and commercial proposals for complex High Voltage (HV) infrastructure projects. This senior role is well suited to an individual with a background as a tendering engineer, estimator, or senior proposals engineer who enjoys working at the front end of major projects.

You will take ownership of end-to-end tendering activities, ensuring all technical reviewable, cost estimates, and submissions are accurate, compliant, and competitive, while providing technical leadership across the bid lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of tenders, proposals, and estimates for Renewable and HV infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission, and distribution works.
• Coordinate, develop, and review all technical and commercial reviewable in line with client requirements and internal governance processes.
• prepare detailed cost estimates, pricing models, risk allowances, and commercial assumptions.
• Review and interpret client specifications, drawings, schedules, and contract documentation.
• Engage with engineering, construction, procurement, and external partners to develop complete and compliant bid submissions.
• Identify value engineering opportunities, cost efficiencies, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Support tender clarifications, post-tender negotiations, and handover to project delivery teams.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior proposals, estimating, or tendering engineers.
• Ensure all submissions align with PSD Energy\'s safety, quality, and compliance standards.

About You

You are commercially minded engineer with strong technical depth and proven experience delivering successful bids in the HV infrastructure and renewables sector.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in tendering, estimating, or proposals engineering for HV infrastructure and Renewable projects.
• Strong understanding of HV systems, including substation, transmission lines, and associated equipment.
• Strong understanding of Renewables technologies, including solar, wind, BESS and more.
• Demonstrated experience managing reviewable and bid documentation for complex projects.
• high level of commercial acumen, including risk assessment and contract interpretation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-p(aced bid environment.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered status (Desirable)
• Experience in renewable energy or energy transition projects (Desirable)
• Familiarity with Australian standards, utility requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
