The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our Engineering team and play a key role in the technical delivery of ABCO Water’s water and wastewater treatment projects.
This is a hands‑on, technically influential role where you will lead process design activities, support project development from concept through to commissioning, and provide expert process input across engineering, sales, and operations. You will be involved in shaping treatment solutions, undertaking site audits and investigations, and ensuring systems are designed to perform reliably, efficiently, and in line with regulatory requirements.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager and broader project teams, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of process outcomes, contribute to continuous improvement, and work across a diverse portfolio of municipal, industrial, and resource sector projects.
Your Responsibilities
Lead and own process design for complex water and wastewater treatment projects
Provide technical direction and assurance across process design activities
Develop treatment solutions from concept, through detailed design, to commissioning
Interpret client data, define design criteria, and assess process risks and opportunities
Prepare and review high-quality process documentation (process design statements, PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies)
Provide technical support to engineering and sales teams during project development
Undertake site investigations, audits, and performance reviews to inform design and optimisation
Support project delivery through troubleshooting, optimisation, and corrective actions
Play a key role in commissioning and operator training
Your Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline (Chemical, Process, Environmental or similar)
5+ years’ experience in process engineering, preferably in water or wastewater treatment
Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes
Experience delivering process design from concept to commissioning
Proficient in preparing process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, design statements, control philosophies)
Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
Able to manage multiple projects with a high level of autonomy
