Job Description

The Process Engineer Leader supervises and leads a team of engineers under broad direction, providing technical guidance and coaching junior professionals. Responsible for planning, budgeting, organizing, and controlling a significant segment of engineering programs or an entire program of moderate scope, including management of assigned staff and budget. The role focuses on process design, simulation, and engineering execution for Phenol & Cumene plants in the petrochemical sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Process Design Basis and Design Philosophies according to project scope.
  • Execute FEED jobs in the Phenol and Cumene petrochemical field.
  • Review and perform process simulations; guide engineers to develop Heat & Mass Balances.
  • Develop PFDs, PSFDs, P&IDs, C&EDs, and safety charts.
  • Perform routine process calculations (hydraulics and sizing) using process software and in-house tools.
  • Design process control configurations, ESD systems, and equipment such as separators, pumps, compressors, and gas treatment units.
  • Engineer and design facilities including Fired Heaters, Heat Exchangers, and Columns.
  • Design utility systems: Steam, Instrument Air, Plant Air, Nitrogen, Fuel Gas/Oil, Cooling Water, Chilled Water, Potable Water, DM Water, and Wastewater.
  • Prepare steam balance and perform compressor hydraulics calculations.
  • Conduct relief valve and flare load calculations.
  • Develop utility balances, UFDs, and summaries for all process plant utilities.
  • Knowledge and coordination of offsites, including tank farms, boilers, and power generation.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate all project execution activities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to performance guarantees, vendor packages, and scope.
  • Evaluate vendor/consultant/licensor offers and prepare technical bid analyses.
  • Participate in routine safety studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and operations (added advantage).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 20–25 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Offshore, or Utilities & Offsites projects.
  • Proficient in process engineering software such as HYSYS, Flarenet, Pipenet, and Pipesim.
  • Strong knowledge of international engineering standards, codes, specifications, and calculation methods.
  • Effective leadership, team management, and report writing skills.
