Process Engineering Specialist

Duties/Responsibilities/Activities:

Strategy & Planning:

• Participate in Annual Business Planning exercise to understand and plan for Process Engineering requirements in line with organization's growth plans
• Advise management and provide inputs for strategic initiatives and critical projects (new product introduction, new technology or technology up-gradation) from process engineering perspective

Process Design, Governance, Troubleshoot& Optimization:

• Define and implement effective process engineering controls through appropriate check points and metrics to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
• Guide & oversee troubleshooting process and improve trouble shooting process by introduction of analytical tools (including Root Cause Analysis)
• Track process performance patterns to identify chronic issues and devise measures to overcome the same.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes with an objective to optimize costs, improve output quality, process reliability and/or decrease cycle times.
• Scan the environment for new technologies and benchmark competitor practices to ensure continuous improvement in process engineering capabilities.
• Ensure proper provision of process documentation and operating instructions.

NPD:

• Partner with Product manager and contribute to NPD process in all the phases from a process engineering perspective starting from feasibility analysis, design study, prototype development to pilot plant trials and main plant scale - up
• Guide pilot plant lead in planning trial schedules and oversee pilot plant feasibility trials execution
• Assist the debottlenecking process engineer in identifying process gaps and recommend solutions leading to successful pilot plant trial
• Recommend modification (if required) to laboratory processes (synthesis, surface treatments etc.) post lab experimentation based on scale up feasibility, manufacturability and EHS compliance
• Provide guidance to pilot plant team to standardize product on pilot plant / plant and suggest ways to optimize process and reduce time cycle
• Assist pilot plant team in understanding of the laboratory synthesis process and ensure seamless conversion of the laboratory process to pilot plant set-up
• Ensure main plant scale up is aligned with pilot plant and work towards minimizing deviations
• Conduct audits of new product production process to ensure compliance with Safety & Environmental statutory norms
• Review & guide Root Cause Analysis as key member of NPD cross functional team and advise on any process deviations observed during pilot plant/ feasibility trials

People Management:

• Ensure effective manning, capability development & engagement of employees so that function objectives are met
• Monitor the performance of the team on a continuous basis to identify key performers
