We are an Australian owned sugar milling and refining company operating three sugar mills and a refinery in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. As one of the largest agricultural and manufacturing sectors in the region , employing over 400 people directly and a further 2,500 indirectly to support the local industry. The region, known for its stunning beaches, rivers, fishing and natural wonders extends across seven shires including Tweed, Byron Bay, Ballina and the Clarence Valley. Harwood is situated on the Clarence River near the coastal and historical port town of Yamba.

The role:

We are seeking a Crushing Station Attendant to join our production team at the Harwood Sugar Mill. This role is responsible for monitoring, lubricating, operating and cleaning of the sugar cane feeding, sugar cane preparation and crushing/extraction equipment.

Key equipment includes, conveyors, steam turbines, reciprocating steam engines numerous pumps of differing designs and extraction equipment (Mills).

This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday (8 hours per day) however during the crushing season extra hours may be required (June to Dec. approx.).

Reporting to both the shift supervisor and mill maintenance engineer, the crushing station attendant will plan, prioritise and monitor the crushing station processes.

In order to support organisational safety culture, the crushing station attendant is expected to actively support a safe workplace, participate in advancing safety through their daily work and explore opportunities for improvement in workplace safety.

The crushing station attendant will also support projects to facilitate more efficient operations and eliminate unproductive work practices.

An attractive remuneration package including 5 weeks annual leave is offered with the position. Full training will be provided.

We are looking for:

Strong mechanical aptitude and sound fault-finding skills

Able to consider options and make sound decisions based on analysis, experience and judgment

High level communication skills both written and verbal

The ability to monitor and control several processes simultaneously

Experience with risk assessments and commitment to Work Health & Safety principles

Willingness to learn new skills and follow directions

General computer skills, including the use of a computerised operator interface to control process equipment.

Relevant High Risk Work Licenses (or willing to obtain):
- Operate a turbine
- Operate a reciprocating steam engine

A High-risk Work license for Boiler advanced will be highly regarded (but not essential)
