About this Position

This role is responsible for New Product Development (NPD) and Technical Transfer (TT) for regional Hair Care and Laundry products, with a strong focus on manufacturing readiness and on-time, in-full (OTIF) product launches.
The position is a technical individual contributor role (no people management). It works closely with Shanghai-based teams and collaborates with Japan-based and third-party manufacturing sites, as well as regional stakeholders.

What you´ll do

  • Support NPD and TT projects across Hair Care and Laundry categories
  • Establish and validate manufacturing processes to ensure OTIF launches
  • Act as the technical interface between R&D and Supply Chain
  • Lead plant trials, scale-up, and production start-up activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing technical issues
  • Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, quality, and waste reduction
  • Maintain accurate and compliant technical documentation

What makes you a good fit

Required Qualifications (Mus have)

  • Native Japanese with business-level English.
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Science or Engineering (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials, Bioengineering, or related)
  • 10+ years of experience in FMCG / consumer goods manufacturing (Cosmetics, Hair Care, Laundry, or Home Care)
  • Hands-on experience with B2C products. Minimum 3 years of experience in NPD, process development, scale-up, or technical transfer
  • Ability to stay in Shanghai for extended periods and travel internationally

Nice to have

  • Direct experience in cosmetic or hair care manufacturing plants
  • Experience working in multinational or matrix organizations
  • Exposure to Laundry category or large-scale FMCG operations
  • Experience supporting factories in Asia (e.g. India, China)
  • Chinese language capability
  • Background in process optimization, productivity, or quality improvement initiatives
