Role Overview

The Procurement Director will lead strategic sourcing of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions for utility‑scale PV + BESS and standalone BESS renewable projects. The position blends commercial acumen, contractual expertise, technical understanding, and strategic relationship management to deliver competitive, reliable, and sustainable supply outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for BESS equipment, components, and long‑term service agreements aligned with corporate sustainability goals and project pipeline requirements.
  • Lead procurement from market intelligence and RFPs through to contract negotiation, award, and contract compliance.
  • Conduct supplier qualification and benchmarking on performance, cost, quality, risk, and innovation potential.
  • Forecast sourcing needs with business units to support project delivery timelines and manage a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) framework to optimize LCOE and project returns.
  • Build and maintain global supplier relationships, fostering long‑term strategic partnerships with battery OEMs, integrators, and technology innovators.
  • Act as the key interface between internal technical, engineering, project, operations, and finance teams to align sourcing decisions with business objectives.
  • Promote innovation and collaboration with suppliers to enhance competitiveness, quality, operations reliability, and sustainability.
  • Communicate sourcing strategies, key risks, and opportunities across stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Support global procurement initiatives and corporate sourcing objectives to ensure consistency with enterprise‑wide supply chain strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Legal, or related field (Master’s degree and Engineering preferred).
  • 8–12 years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience in renewable energy infrastructure equipment, with at least 4 years of BESS experience.
  • Proven international strategic sourcing, vendor negotiation, innovation partnership, and contract execution expertise.
  • Track record of negotiating complex commercial contracts and managing MSAs.
  • Knowledge of U.S. safe harbor, tariffs, FEOC/material assistance, UFLPA, and tax equity financing requirements.
  • Ability to manage across multiple global time zones and travel to supplier sites and project locations as needed.
  • Strong understanding of technical, operational, market, and financial drivers for utility‑scale and standalone storage projects.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently across time zones.
  • High analytical capability, commercial judgment, and comfort managing ambiguity in evolving markets.
  • Excellent relationship management, influencing, and communication skills across executives and stakeholders.
