Job Description
On behalf of our client in Senegal, we are recruiting a Procurement Manager – based in Dakar, responsible for overseeing and coordinating all procurement and supply-related activities within the company. The role aims to ensure the availability of required products and services under the best possible conditions of cost, quality, and lead time.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Procurement Strategy
● Develop the procurement strategy in collaboration with top management.
● Define objectives regarding cost, quality, and timelines.
● Monitor market trends in construction materials.
● Anticipate trends and price fluctuations through continuous market watch.
2) Sourcing and Supplier Relations
● Identify potential new suppliers.
● Evaluate the performance of existing suppliers.
● Negotiate contractual terms.
● Lead negotiations to secure favorable conditions with suppliers.
3) Tender Management
● Organize tenders for specific products or categories.
● Analyze proposals and recommend the most suitable suppliers.
4) Cost Optimization
● Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
● Implement initiatives to reduce procurement spending.
● Calculate cost prices and selling prices.
5) Inventory Control and Stock Management
● Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
● Ensure product availability aligned with business needs.
6) Transit and Logistics
● Select and manage relationships with freight forwarders.
● Launch tenders for freight and logistics services.
7) Team Management
● Supervise, train, and motivate the procurement team.
● Foster skills development within the team.
II – Required Skills and Qualifications
● Proficiency in negotiation techniques.
● Strong command of IT tools.
● Ability to build and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
● Anticipate the company’s evolving needs.
● Excellent understanding of the end-to-end procurement and supply chain process.
● Strong interpersonal skills.
● Active listening and effective communication.
● Proactive mindset.
● Rigorous and methodical approach.
● Bachelor's or Master's degree (Bac +4/5) in business, management, procurement, logistics, or related fields.
● Proven experience in procurement, preferably in Africa, within a recognized construction or construction materials distribution company.
Compensation & Benefits
● Salary: USD 3,000 to 3,500
● Housing provided
● Health insurance included
● One annual round-trip flight
● Target Profile: Expatriate, ideally of Lebanese nationality
● Fluency in French is mandatory
