About the Opportunity

This is a rare chance to play a pivotal leadership role in shaping ASC’s long‑term procurement strategy within the submarine enterprise. As Procurement Manager, you will lead a specialist corporate procurement team, driving strategic sourcing, category management and capability partnerships to support Australia’s sovereign submarine enterprise. Operating in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment, you’ll influence major procurement outcomes, uplift team capability, and collaborate across a highly complex stakeholder network to ensure critical program delivery. This role can be based at Osborne, South Australia or Henderson, Western Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of ASC’s long‑term corporate procurement strategy and medium‑term sourcing, SRM and category management plans.
  • Establish and monitor procurement performance measures to drive efficiency, cost savings and continuous improvement across submarine programs.
  • Prepare high‑level strategy papers, briefs and recommendations for executive and board‑level governance forums.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of procurement activities with organisational objectives.
  • Manage, mentor and develop corporate procurement teams, fostering a culture of accountability, performance and professional growth.
  • Ensure best‑practice procurement governance, ethical conduct, and compliance with legislation, ASC policies and the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate procurement risks to support submarine availability, capability and long‑term sustainment.

About you 

  • Degree‑qualified or experienced in commerce, law, engineering or supply chain, with at least 10 years in senior supply chain leadership across defence, manufacturing, mining or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading procurement transformation, scaling teams and enhancing capability.
  • Deep knowledge of procurement strategy, governance, risk management and end‑to‑end supply chain systems.
  • Adaptive to change and comfortable in ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to lead high‑performing teams and communicate complex information with clarity, both written and verbal.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at senior management level.
  • Strategic mindset with a proactive, outcomes‑focused approach to planning, decision-making and business improvement.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and adherence to organisational, legal and public policy requirements.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance up to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
