(Senior) Product Manager (m/f/x) Payroll SaaS Solution



Location: Fully remote in Germany





About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Product Manager (m/f/x) to join their team and take charge of their Payroll SaaS Solution. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping the future of payroll management by driving innovation and delivering world-class solutions for organizations. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, development, and business stakeholders, to deliver impactful product enhancements that drive value for customers.







Here’s what you’ll be doing:
  • Conduct Industry Research: Work closely with clients, prospects, implementation partners, and internal teams to understand payroll management challenges and identify opportunities to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Manage the Product Backlog: Define the scope and feature requirements for payroll product releases, ensuring alignment with business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute Strategic Product Direction: Contribute to the development of the strategic product roadmap and ensure seamless execution across all phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Design, Development, and Business teams to turn product requirements into reality, focusing on user experience and efficient product delivery.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert in Payroll: Leverage your deep understanding of German Payroll regulations—such as social insurances, taxes, and other payroll-related processes—to guide product development and ensure the solution is always compliant.
  • Innovate Payroll Solutions: Drive the development of new features that enhance the payroll experience, ensuring they meet the needs of businesses and employees alike.
  • Drive Product Adoption and Readiness: Engage with the business before product launches to ensure they are prepared to sell, implement, and support new features effectively.
  • Champion the User Experience: Act as the voice of the user, ensuring that payroll solutions are intuitive, efficient, and accessible.
  • Communicate Product Vision and Strategy: Effectively communicate key product objectives, user needs, and value propositions to stakeholders and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on goals.
  • Lead Backlog and Roadmap Execution: Prioritize and maintain the product backlog, working with teams to execute on the roadmap while focusing on business outcomes and delivering measurable impact.
  • Focus on End-to-End Product Delivery: Deliver products that meet the highest standards for functionality, security, scalability, and compliance, with a focus on payroll-specific needs.
  • Lead Change: Drive innovation in payroll technology by identifying opportunities to improve business processes through tools and frameworks.
  • Stay Ahead of Industry Trends: Monitor developments in payroll and HR tech, keeping the product relevant and competitive in the ever-evolving landscape.

  • Conduct Opportunity Discovery: Work with senior product managers to discover new opportunities for payroll solutions, evaluating ideas based on their potential impact.
  • Create Process and Story Maps: Map out processes and identify areas where payroll products can be differentiated in Germany, providing solutions that focus on improving business operations.
  • Flag Issues for Prioritization: Identify and escalate issues requiring attention to senior product managers to ensure alignment and focus on key priorities.





  • Skills and Experience We Value:
  • 3+ Years of Product Management Experience: Preferably in a SaaS environment, with a strong understanding of Payroll systems and processes.
  • Deep Knowledge of Payroll and HCM: Extensive experience with German Payroll, including social insurances, taxes, and other payroll-related regulations is critical for this role.
  • Experience in User Stories and Product Research: Proficient in writing user stories, conducting user research, and breaking down complex technical projects.
  • Fluency in German and English: Strong communication skills in both languages are essential for collaborating with both German and international teams.
  • Thrives in Fast-Paced Environments: Comfortable working in an innovative, fast-changing environment with a history of successfully launching products.
  • Highly Organized and Independent: Able to work autonomously or as part of an agile team, managing multiple priorities with precision and efficiency.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Effective at consulting and collaborating with stakeholders and team members across all levels.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Abilities: Proactive in identifying and solving complex problems within the payroll domain.
  • Technical Insight: Able to participate in technical discussions, understanding the implications of technical decisions on the product and the user experience.
  • User-Centric Focus: Strong focus on user experience, accessibility, and ensuring that products are easy to use and meet the needs of payroll administrators.
