Job Description
Job Title: Product Manager
Location: Bangalore | Full-Time | Experience: 3-5 Years
About Rekise Marine
Rekise Marine is building autonomous ships and submarines that operate in the world's most hostile environments. We're executing India's flagship autonomous submarine project — the Jalkapi XLAUV — on order from the Indian Navy. This is an unmanned submarine weighing over 20 tons that can travel 5,000+ kilometers autonomously and operate in the ocean for 30+ days at a time.
We're creating some of the largest autonomous robots in the world, machines with direct impact on the global economy and national security. While autonomous cars in India may still be a dream, autonomous ships and submarines are already a reality, and it is possible to build for the world from India.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Product Manager to own and drive the execution of our autonomous underwater vessel (AUV) development. In this role, you will be the operational heartbeat of the engineering team.
You will sit at the intersection of our Robotics, Mechanical, and Embedded Systems teams, ensuring that pre-defined scopes turn into reality. From coordinating complex bench tests to managing the logistics of open-water sea trials, you will ensure our robots get built, tested, and deployed on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cross-Functional Planning, Coordination, and Execution
- Act as the primary bridge between the Mechanical, Embedded, and Robotics software teams to ensure inter-department dependencies are met.
- Translate high-level pre-defined timelines into actionable daily/weekly tasks and sprints.
- Identify bottlenecks early and facilitate rapid resolution to unblock individual teams through daily sync ups.
2. Testing & Operations Management
- Bench Testing: Coordinate scheduling and resource allocation for lab-based robot bench testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations.
- Field Testing : Coordinate periodical field tests including managing the packing and transportation of required setup for testing, defining key goals and outcomes of field testing, ensuring required personnel are available, etc.
- Sea Trials: Lead the operational planning for sea trials, including logistics, safety protocols, site selection, and transportation of equipment.
3. Vendor & Supply Chain Liaison
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and machine shops to ensure parts and sensors arrive on time and meet quality specifications.
- Interface procurement, finance, receiving, and store teams to ensure required orders are placed on time, accurate lead times are planned for, delays minimized, and received items safely stored.
- Track overall expenses of the project across procurement and operations.
4. Communication & Documentation
- Be a \"Single Source of Truth\" for project status, ensuring seamless communication across all engineering disciplines.
- Own the clear and organized documentation process: ensure design reviews, test results, and trial logs are properly recorded and accessible.
- Conduct regular status checks to monitor progress against the predefined scope and timeline.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of Product/Project/Program Management experience in a Hardware, Robotics, Automotive, or Aerospace environment (pure software PM experience is likely insufficient).
- Technical Fluency: Ability to speak the language of engineers. You don't need to code, but you must understand how to communicate with different types of engineers about topics ranging from firmware updates, mechanical tolerances, to PCB fabrication cycles.
- Operations Mindset: Willingness to get your hands dirty with logistics, equipment handling, and field operations during field trials.
- Tools: Proficiency in project tracking tools (Jira, Linear, Asana) and documentation tools (Confluence, Notion).
Preferred Experience
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics).
- Experience with marine technology, drones, or autonomous vehicles.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards or maritime regulations.
- Experience working in early stage or deep tech startups.
Why Join Rekise Marine
- High-Impact Role: Your operational decisions directly impact India's most advanced submarine program. Every test you coordinate and milestone you deliver contributes to national defense.
- Hands-On Experience: Participate in actual sea trials and field missions. See submarines you helped build operate at 300m depth in the ocean.
- Technical Diversity: Work across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. Gain rare expertise in underwater robotics operations.
- Startup Agility: High-agency culture where you own outcomes. Direct access to founders and ability to shape operational processes.
- Career Growth: Build expertise in deep-tech hardware operations. Path to lead larger programs as we scale to multiple submarines.
- Benefits: Competitive Compensation and Health insurance. Travel opportunities for field tests and sea trials.
