Production Accountant (Media & Entertainment)

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Production Accountant to manage budgets, track costs, and ensure financial compliance across film, television, digital, or commercial productions.

The role requires strong attention to detail, hands-on experience with production finance, and the ability to work closely with producers and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, manage, and track production budgets and cost reports
• Handle daily accounting activities including invoices, purchase orders, petty cash, and expense reports
• Process payroll for cast and crew in coordination with payroll vendors
• Ensure accurate cost tracking and timely reporting to producers and management
• Monitor production spend and flag budget variances or risks early
• Manage vendor payments and maintain proper financial documentation
• Ensure compliance with production accounting standards, tax laws, and company policies
• Assist with audits, cost reports, and final wrap accounting
• Coordinate closely with Production Managers, Line Producers, and Finance teams

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5-6 years of proven experience as a Production Accountant in film, TV, OTT, commercials, or digital content
• Strong understanding of production budgets, cost reporting, and payroll
• Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets)
• Familiarity with union/non-union payroll processes (where applicable)
• High level of accuracy, organisation, and financial discipline
• Ability to work under tight timelines and changing production schedules
• Strong communication and coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on multiple productions simultaneously
• Prior on-set or studio accounting experience
