Contexte et environnement

The Tilenga project is situated in an environmentally sensitive region within the Lake Albert Basin, which poses significant environmental challenges for the operations. A substantial part of the asset is located within MFNP which is Uganda’s largest national park and is classified as a Class II protected area by the IUCN. A number of well pads shall be located within MFNP. Within another perimeter of the asset (Contract Area 1) lies the Victoria Nile whose borders are classified by the RAMSAR convention and is a largely densely populated area with dispersed dwelling, farmers, stock breeders, and fishermen. 

Another anticipated challenge that the project will face concerns flow assurance management during production. The reservoirs in the North Nile network, located inside MFNP have heavy and very viscous oil which will make it harder to separate the oil from the water.
