Santander Alternative Investments (SAI) is a growing business focused on infrastructure, private credit, and real estate, aiming to develop funds that generate alpha for institutional and UHNWI clients.
PositionProfessional for Infrastructure Fund (Targeted Enhanced‑Yield Infra Debt Fund) – located in Madrid.
Key Responsibilities- Originate and preliminarily evaluate investment opportunities in infrastructure and energy high‑yield private credit markets, leveraging relationships with companies, advisors, banks, and asset managers.
- Undertake preliminary structuring, detailed credit, business model, and risk analyses of transactions; draft and prepare screening materials, investment committee memorandum, and related documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence, including financial modelling, legal review, ESG assessments, and analysis of technical, regulatory, and market risks.
- Perform detailed cash flow modelling and cash extraction analysis to evaluate debt service capacity and investment resilience.
- Prepare materials for investment committee and drive execution of approved transactions, leading negotiations of term sheets, financing agreements, and ancillary legal documentation.
- Implement and monitor investment committee decisions across daily fund activities, ensuring accurate execution.
- Contribute to portfolio monitoring, including performance analysis, covenant compliance, ESG reporting, and financial performance tracking.
- Support investor reporting and fundraising activities; prepare regular updates, participate in investor communications, and assist NAV calculation and review processes.
- Collaborate with senior management on new investment strategies and thematic priorities within the infrastructure and energy private credit space.
- Mentor and coach junior colleagues to foster a high‑performance investment culture.
Professional Experience
- 10–15 years of experience investing in junior Infrastructure & Energy credit within an alternative finance provider or asset manager.
- Track record in origination, analysis, structuring, and execution of infrastructure junior credit investments.
- Experience conducting comprehensive due diligence and analysis on infrastructure credit investments.
- Hands‑on involvement in negotiating term sheets, credit agreements, and ancillary legal documentation.
- Portfolio monitoring, asset management, fund reporting experience, including investor reports, performance reviews, NAV calculations.
- Support in fundraising processes for infrastructure private credit funds, preparing marketing and due diligence materials, coordinating data rooms.
Education
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or related disciplines with a strong professional track record in infrastructure credit investment.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, or equivalent (preferred).
Languages
- Proficiency in English (required).
- Other languages such as French or German are a strong plus.
Hard Skills
- Strong knowledge of Infrastructure & Energy financing and investment, with capacity to structure and manage complex private credit transactions.
- Technical expertise in legal, credit, financial and risk analysis, credit structuring and execution.
- Ability to manage private credit investments through different economic cycles and assess portfolio resilience.

- Strong interpersonal capabilities, building trust and credibility with senior management, peers, investors, and counterparties.
