Job Title: Automation Engineer Sr

Location: Columbus OH(4 days Onsite, 1 day Remote)

Type: 3 Months Contract to Hire

The Automation Engineer Sr acts as a resource to decision, design, and lead on medium to large automation solutions within the infrastructure/operations tech spaces. The Automation Engineer Sr’s primary duty involves design work, specifically designing tailored solutions to meet specific client requests using automation technologies. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions for our Infrastructure Engineering teams. This role is also responsible for maintaining and supporting questions and processes related to Orchestration for Infrastructure Engineering teams as well as providing guidance and helping to establish Automation standards intended to streamline the ability for other teams to pursue building automation.
A good candidate should be comfortable guiding efforts from initial idea through design, vetting, pitching, building, completion, and metric reporting. This role has an expectation of both direct automation development skills and the soft skills to effectively communicate and mentor other infrastructure engineers in building out their own development knowledge. The ability to distinguish between automation needs and process needs and solution on both is integral for success in this position.

Detailed Description 
• Scale of work focus: Medium to large projects that frequently span multiple teams.
• Presentation skills expected: director level and medium groups that may involve a range of teams.
• Ability to identify value opportunities and assist in quantifying value in new initiatives brought forward. 
• Communicates complex technical problems and solutions in articulate and easily understood way. 
• Recognizes new value-drivers in existing efforts and how those value-drivers may be aligned tactically with other work initiatives.
• Clearly grasps gaps, risks and concerns related to current efforts and proactively adjusts plans as needed to avoid impact to expected effort delivery.
• Builds and delivers on visions for segment (this may encompass a range of projects to achieve a larger goal) that clearly communicates a larger strategy in approach to implementation with minimal supervision.
• Able to clearly express, train and drive team/segment vision goals.
• Provides effective production support including accurate problem identification, ticket documentation, and customer/vendor dialogue. 
• Dissects complex situations and refocuses on critical technology tasks. 
• Extensive experience in identifying, verifying, vetting, and testing hardware/software requirements for proposed automation and orchestrations solutions. 
• Identifies and pursues learning and upskilling opportunities relevant to technologies, products and needs anticipated within their technical space.
