Reporting Lines
Selected applicants will report to OSL Senior Programme Officer, under the overall guidance of the Director OSL.
Technical Focus
Planning, monitoring and evaluation. The incumbent will support the planning, design, and implementation of key programmatic activities and outputs, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of these and other ongoing initiatives, in close collaboration with FAO staff.
Tasks and responsibilities
• Support the preparation of the FAO Vision and Approach for SIDS, LDCs, and LLDCs, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities, regional strategies, and global commitments.
• Coordinate inputs from technical units, regional offices, and country offices for the Vision and Approach document, including consultations and validation processes.
• Support the implementation of the – Action Plan for SIDS, LDCs, and LLDCs, including monitoring progress, reporting on results, and identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Facilitate collaboration across FAO units and regional priority groups to ensure integrated strategic planning, results-based programming, budgeting, and reporting for SIDS, LDCs, and LLDCs.
• Develop and maintain systems and procedures for work planning and results-based monitoring, ensuring timely and accurate reporting on Vision and Action Plan implementation.
• Prepare analytical briefs and progress reports on the implementation of the Action Plan, including contributions to the Programme Implementation Report and Governing Body updates.
• Provide quality assurance of data and information related to planning, monitoring, and reporting for SIDS, LDCs, and LLDCs.
• Support the preparation of the concept note for the development of a FAO reporting dashboard for SIDS, LDCs and LLDCs.
• Attend meetings with relevant internal partners (CSI, OSP, etc.) and provide input for the different steps of development of the dashboard.
• Provide inputs for the planning of the report “FAO’s work in SIDS, LDCs and LLDCs -”, particularly for the concept note, working schedule and annotated outline.
• Develop an approach to capture the needed data and information to feed to the development of the report “FAO’s work in SIDS, LDCs and LLDCs -”.
• Undertake other relevant duties.

Minimum Requirements
• For Consultants:
Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in social sciences, business administration, economics, agriculture, development economics, international development or related fields. Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
For PSAs:
University degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in social sciences, business administration, economics, agriculture, development economics, international development or related fields.
• Five years of relevant experience in planning, monitoring and evaluation, financial analysis, business process analysis and/or systems development.
• Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English.

Technical/Functional Skills
• Familiarity with and if possible, experience working in SIDS, LDCs and LLDCs
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills and intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
Selection Criteria
• Ability to plan proactively, guide and follow up on the work of others and work under pressure on multiple tasks simultaneously and within tight deadlines.
