Job Title: Project Engineer

Location: DFW Metroplex, TX (On-site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 Annually (Based on experience)

Role Overview

The Project Engineer plays a critical role in the successful planning, execution, and delivery of commercial mechanical and plumbing construction projects. This position supports project management and field operations to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards.

The Project Engineer serves as a key coordination point between internal teams, general contractors, owners, vendors, and subcontractors, helping translate design intent into executable construction plans while proactively identifying risks, cost-saving opportunities, and process improvements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design specifications, budgets, schedules, and quality standards
  • Review project plans and specifications and assist in building and maintaining project schedules
  • Proactively identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for project improvement
  • Prepare job cost breakdowns and schedules of values
  • Review and approve project billings in coordination with project management
  • Coordinate with general contractors, owners, vendors, and subcontractors regarding schedules, RFIs, and change orders
  • Order mechanical and plumbing materials in accordance with project specifications and schedules
  • Coordinate manpower needs with field superintendents based on project schedules
  • Conduct and participate in pre-construction, progress, and close-out meetings
  • Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with office personnel, field teams, and external partners
  • Complete and manage required project documentation electronically
  • Oversee and continuously monitor jobsite safety for all personnel
  • Model and promote best-in-class safety practices
  • Serve as a direct point of contact for customers and project stakeholders
  • Positively and professionally represent the company at all times

Required Background

  • 5+ years of experience supporting or managing commercial mechanical and/or plumbing construction projects
  • Experience in healthcare, education, industrial, government, or office construction markets
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods
  • Experience supporting project financials, cost-to-complete reviews, and project closeouts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive problem solver
  • Professional, self-motivated, and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a project team
