What we need from you / What our client requires

• Prior work in rail, tunnel, or confined environments
• Strong understanding of RF systems, NodeB/RNC equipment, and telecom integration
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and subcontractor coordination skills
• Experience in deploying UTRAN / cellular RAN infrastructure

Key responsibilities

• Assist with design preparation, including work packs, method statements, and RF coverage modelling
• Conduct site surveys in tunnels and rail stations to assess installation feasibility
• Oversee installation and integration of NodeB, RNC, and transmission components
• Manage subcontractors and ensure all work is safe, compliant, and on schedule
• Coordinate system commissioning, RF testing (EMC, PIM, return-loss), and final handover
• Liaise with rail authorities, civil contractors, and vendors to align work with operational constraints
• Track project milestones, report risks, and support documentation handover to operations

About the role

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join a high-performing ICT and infrastructure team delivering mobile telecommunications systems in tunnel-based rail environments. This position involves managing complex deployments including mobile coverage systems, RF design, and safe installation within operational rail networks. You will be hands-on in both technical and delivery aspects, coordinating design, managing subcontractors, ensuring rail safety compliance, and verifying system performance through RF testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
