JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide technical engineering expertise to a specific project and provide assistance in the preparation of estimates; measure and calculate quantities of work put in place for payment and provide input for the cost accounting system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist with technical information for project & construction management to ensure construction work complies with all construction standards, codes and specificationsAssist with Project Submittals, Submittal Acquisition form Subcontractors, and Review Incoming submittals prior to transmitting to the Owner/EngineerCoordinate with Owner and Engineer Representatives during the course of the projectAllocate cost codes to the appropriate field operations and track/maintain quantities to verify subcontractor /supplier billingTrack and compile of materials, equipment, and labor for any/all change orders and field ordersProvide technical assistance with project scheduling; prepare 3-week look ahead schedule and updates for monthly project schedule submissionsMaintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports during the course of the projectAssist project management in all job aspectsCoordinate with Survey as required to facilitate the constructionWork with Safety Department to analyze potential job hazards and prepare plan to eliminate risksTravel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6 or MS Project), and construction management tools QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Four (4) year engineering or construction management degree, or equivalent combination of training and experienceMinimum of two (2) years of highway, road, and bridge construction experienceWorking knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment, assigned discipline design, and overall engineering standards is necessaryProficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contractsAbility to assist in the preparation, review, and coordination of project submittals, including obtaining required documents from subcontractorsSkilled in assigning and tracking cost codes, verifying subcontractor/supplier billing, and managing project documentationFamiliarity with change order processes, including tracking materials, labor, and equipment for accurate cost evaluationStrong organizational skills with the ability to support all aspects of project managementKnowledge of safety standards and ability to work with the Safety Department to identify and mitigate job hazards BENEFITS
