About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented
Civil Engineer with a strong construction estimating background
to support preconstruction, budgeting, and bid preparation across civil and infrastructure projects, as well as smaller commercial projects in plumbing and electrical. This role is critical in ensuring projects are accurately scoped, competitively priced, and financially viable from concept through execution.

You'll work closely with project managers, operations, and leadership to translate plans and specs into clear, defensible cost estimates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare
    detailed construction cost estimates
    (conceptual, preliminary, and final)
  • Perform
    quantity takeoffs
    from civil drawings and specifications
  • Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
  • Develop and maintain
    cost models, bid summaries, and risk contingencies
  • Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and vendor bids
  • Support value engineering
    and cost-optimization efforts
  • Review drawings for constructability and scope gaps
  • Track historical cost data and improve estimating accuracy over time
  • Assist with change order pricing and budget revisions as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Civil Engineering
    (required)
  • Professional to Native English speaking is required
  • 3–10+ years of experience in
    construction estimating
    (civil, infrastructure, utilities, site work, or similar)

Strong understanding of:

  • Earthwork, utilities, concrete, paving, and civil construction means & methods
  • Construction documents, specs, and bid packages
  • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g.,
    Bluebeam, PlanSwift, HeavyBid, ProEst
    , or similar)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate assumptions, risks, and pricing rationale
  • Strong attention to detail with a practical, real-world construction mindset

Preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT certification

Experience with:

  • Design-build or negotiated work
  • Smaller commercial projects for electrical or plumbing
  • Large-scale civil or municipal projects
  • Cost-loaded schedules or preconstruction planning
  • Background working closely with field operations or project management
