Job Summary

:

Bechtel India is seeking a senior Project Estimator with ability to support a functional role at Gurgaon office. The position requires talent management and work oversight capability. Incumbent will be required to prepare, review and present project and/or discipline estimates, namely civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, construction distributable, services) for projects and proposals. Person will provide estimating assistance and guidance to projects, develop conceptual estimates, and lead estimate reviews and presentations. Preferrable experience in developing estimates for Manufacturing, Data Center, Combined Cycle, Carbon Capture, Mining, Infrastructure (like Airports & Highways) and Renewable Sectors. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops project estimate plans based on scope, contract, estimate type, and resources.

  • Conducts capital cost estimates and defines scope assumptions with stakeholders.

  • Prepares documentation for estimate basis and assumptions.

  • Supports conceptual and order of magnitude (OOM) estimates.

  • Collaborates to improve estimating methods and integrate new technologies.

  • Provides technical input on process changes and innovations.

  • Oversees large project estimates, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

  • Aligns estimating assumptions with project execution strategies.

  • Manages full lifecycle of estimate development.

  • Leads estimating teams, consolidates components, and prepares bid documents.

  • Specializes in quantification, pricing, escalation, risk, and contingency.

  • Recommends contingency ranges and escalation rates.

  • Prepares indirect cost estimates including staffing, tools, services, and field costs.

  • Guides proposal cash flow and working capital analysis.

  • Reviews escalation calculations and integrates commercial terms.

  • Inputs cost data into historical databases.

  • Archives estimates with full documentation for traceability.

  • Supports estimating standards and procedures.

  • Generates reports and presents data for management reviews.

  • Conducts cost studies using historical data and statistical analysis.

  • Innovates techniques to meet project-specific needs.

  • Participates in Value Engineering studies.

  • Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 15+ years of industry experience and 10+ years in Estimating.

  • Experience with supervising and leading a team of estimators. Skilled in oral and written communication. Advanced knowledge and experience with EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures including the full range estimate classifications levels.

  • Jobsite experience will be preferred

  • Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of Estimating core processes and procedures requiring minimal direction and supervision.

  • Advance knowledge and experience in EPC estimating practices and methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to the estimate types, classifications, and components.

  • Experience with Lump Sum Design Build estimates. Specifically understands detail level estimates and design packages.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, perform, and present cost estimating products with a minimum of supervision.

  • Broad knowledge and experience in construction estimating practices and methods. Knowledge of manual labor performance, equipment production and derivation of composite craft/category labor rates.

  • Practical experience in performing statistical analysis, cost, and price analysis.

  • Familiar with commercial terms and conditions (contractor relationships, currency exchange, taxation, inflation, insurance, escalation, etc.).

  • Knowledge of the principles of Life-Cycle costing, cost in use, and operating costs and ability to undertake a Net Present Value (NPV) analysis. Understanding of cost index and escalation projections sources.

  • Knowledge of global market pricing for commodities and construction practices. Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques.

  • Excellent applied analytical and quantitative skills. Effective in utilizing metrics to provide reasonableness checks
