Job Summary

The Project Lead of Watco Logistics is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex transportation projects. This position plays a crucial role in managing heavy haul, crane and rigging, and rail logistics projects. It is essential for the Project Lead to maintain these duties with time efficiency, within a budget, all while ensuring compliance with all safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements.Experience with project cargo and/or break bulk is preferred.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of logistics projects from initiation through close-out • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and documentation • Ensure projects are completed within scope, timeline, and budget • Coordinate heavy haul trucking, crane and rigging operations, and rail logistics • Review and confirm truck and rail routes and validate clearance files for accuracy • Oversee placement, release, and return of railcars and other transport assets• Manage import and export logistics including coordination with ports and steamship lines • Lead vendor negotiations and manage contracts, purchase orders, and change orders • Build and maintain strong customer relationships with daily/weekly project updates • Collaborate with engineering and operations to meet all technical and regulatory requirements • Identify and mitigate project risks, resolving issues quickly and effectively • Ensure safety and compliance standards are met throughout project execution • Provide timely progress reports to customers and management • Conduct operations and project meetings to align internal and external stakeholders • Deliver final project close-out reports and ensure accounting requirements are met • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: • 3+ years of project management experience in transportation logistics is preferred • Experience in heavy haul, crane and rigging, or rail logistics recommended• Strong knowledge of route planning, clearance requirements, and vendor management• Travel may be required to project sites, customer locations, or industry events• Apply knowledge of organization, communication, conflict resolution, and time management skills• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), PC Miler, Google Maps/Earth, and project management tools• Positive attitude, strong problem-solving abilities, and a focus on customer satisfaction • Effective customer service skills and the ability to service both internal and external customers• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities at one time


Education

High School or GED equivalent
