Job Description
Overview
Project Manager role at SHAPE Australia.
About the role
As a Project Manager at SHAPE, you’ll be responsible for delivering fitout and construction projects in Darwin and surrounding areas, with project values typically in the $3–$20M range. You’ll take an active, hands‑on role across the full project lifecycle — from tender through to handover — coordinating consultants, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, contribute to key project decisions, and help drive high standards of quality and client satisfaction. If you thrive in fast‑paced environments and enjoy solving complex delivery challenges, this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on every project you deliver.
- Deliver end‑to‑end project management across $3–$20M fitout and construction projects, from pre‑construction through to handover and defect liability.
- Lead, mentor, and empower project teams—including PCs and Site Managers—to deliver exceptional outcomes.
- Drive project strategy, programming, and sequencing to ensure safe, timely, and high‑quality delivery.
- Oversee tender interviews, trade letting, subcontractor negotiations, and contract administration.
- Maintain compliance with Australian standards, building codes, and EHSQ requirements.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ensure accurate financial management, monthly cost reporting, forecasting, and profit improvement strategies.
- Monitor quality and proactively minimise defects through collaboration with site teams.
About you
You’re a capable and driven Project Manager who enjoys delivering complex projects and working closely with teams to achieve strong outcomes. With a solutions‑focused mindset and a commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency, you bring solid experience in project programming, cost management, and construction delivery—ideally within fitout, refurbishment, or commercial construction. Adaptable and calm under pressure, you build effective working relationships with clients, site teams, and subcontractors, contributing to projects that meet expectations and support your continued professional growth.
- Proven track record delivering complex commercial fitout and construction projects, ideally with contractor‑side project management experience.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, inspiring teams to perform at their best.
- Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills, building trust and collaboration.
- Solutions‑focused and adaptable, able to think creatively and make decisions under pressure.
- Ownership and pride in every project, ensuring high‑quality outcomes, safety, and efficiency.
- Hands‑on experience with project programming, cost management, and contract administration.
- Familiarity with project delivery systems such as Procore, Jobpac, and MS Project is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on achieving results.
