Overview

Our client offers services to major projects in the Australian defence industry within the maritime space. They are looking for experienced Project Managers with a defence background who have ideally worked within the maritime sector. 

The Role

The role of a Project Manager is critical in planning and implementing projects in a structured and efficient manner. The Project Manager is responsible for the following:
  • Defining the scope and requirements of the project, developing plans and schedules, managing the project's budget, overseeing and planning resource allocation and work packages, managing risks and issues, and communicating formally and informally on the project's progress.
  • Project Manager must have excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop and maintain project plans, track progress against the plan, identify and manage risks, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are also essential, as the Project Manager must be able to motivate and manage project teams, as well as communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • The Project Manager must have a strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques, and be able to apply these effectively in a defence environment.
  • Must also be able to work collaboratively with other project stakeholders, including technical experts, subject matter experts, and business users, to ensure that project objectives are met on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
   Essential Criteria
  • Strong Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills - Ability to develop relationships with defence Stakeholders at senior levels
  • Experience either within acquisition or sustainment projects
  • Understanding of capability financing & planning, SPO/CASG roles, and defence long term capability planning and development
  • Degree qualification within engineering
  • You must hold a current NV1 security clearance or higher
