Job Title: PSAP Test Engineer Job Location: San Ramon, CA, Open to relocation candidates Job Duration: 1–2 years (renewed annually, ongoing need due to continuous vendor updates) Pay Rate: $45.00/hr to $46.00/hr Onsite — Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM (Must be onsite to verify tones, 2-way audio, etc.) Interview Times: 45 min Virtual Interview Interview Process: Manager interview technical discussion Job Description: Support and certify mission-critical 911 call handling systems within the Emergency Services IP Network (ESINet), ensuring reliable call routing, clear audio, and accurate location delivery across PSAP environments. This role is a frontline technical safeguard for public safety operations—validating new software releases, network integrations, and vendor solutions to ensure systems perform correctly in real-world emergency call scenarios and meet operational/regulatory requirements. Day to Day: Execute scheduled test plans for 911 vendors and platforms; validate releases, patches, and PSAP integrations Perform regression functional testing across wireline, wireless, and accessibility devices Troubleshoot end-to-end 911 call scenarios (SIP signaling, routing failures, audio issues, location delivery) Work directly with vendors on deep-dive troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and proof-of-concept testing Spend time in lab/PSAP environments (not always at a desk) supporting testing and issue resolution Document defects, test results, and recommendations to support certification/compliance sign-off Must Haves: Hands-on PSAP / 911 technical experience (supporting call handling systems, PSAP tech, 911 field engineering, etc.) Proven ability to troubleshoot actual calls (not signal validation / drive testing) Experience working with vendors: ticketing, escalation, validation of fixes, and PoC-style work Strong understanding of 911 call flows and how routing location delivery should behave Working knowledge of SIP / VoIP concepts and troubleshooting in a telecom environment Able to work onsite Monday–Friday and move between desk and lab/PSAP locations as needed Hard no: RF/RAN/RF validation profiles are not a fit (green-light/red-light signal checks ≠ deep call troubleshooting, vendor PoCs, or ESINet/PSAP call handling).
