Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced QA Lead / SDET Lead to drive quality strategy and execution for our HR Solution product line. This role owns end-to-end quality across the development lifecycle, with a strong focus on API automation, test strategy, and engineering excellence.
An immediate priority for this role is to lead the introduction of API test automation for the HR solutions suite.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement a comprehensive QA and automation strategy aligned with product and business goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of SDETs / QA engineers, driving high-quality outcomes.
- Proactively promote advanced and modern testing practices across teams.
Automation & Engineering Excellence
- Lead API test automation initiatives using modern frameworks and tools (e.g., Playwright, Type Script).
- Define automation frameworks, tooling, and best practices.
- Review code, unit tests, and pull requests to ensure coding standards and test quality.
- Define PR merge strategies and enforce quality gates.
Testing & Validation
- Review functional and non-functional requirements and develop comprehensive test cases.
- Perform and oversee API testing, functional testing, and performance testing.
- Apply the test pyramid concept effectively, balancing Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD).
- Identify quality risks early and drive mitigation strategies.
Dev Ops & CI/CD Collaboration
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (good to have).
- Collaborate with development teams on version control, build pipelines, and release processes.
- Support continuous improvement of test environments and automation infrastructure.
Process Improvement
- Continuously improve QA processes, tools, and workflows.
- Contribute to improving overall development processes, quality metrics, and delivery efficiency.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Developer or SDET in software development.
- Proven experience defining and executing test strategies and automation frameworks.
- Experience leading and mentoring a QA/SDET team.
- Strong experience in API testing and automation.
- Excellent analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of test pyramid, automated testing, and QCD principles.
- Ability to proactively introduce and scale advanced testing techniques.
Nice to Have
- Experience improving software development processes.
- Knowledge of system architecture and refactoring.
- Experience building or maintaining CI/CD environments.
- Japanese language skills (conversational level) – optional but recommended.
