Job Description
About Qualmac
Established in 2006, Qualmac Pty Ltd (Australia), Qualmac Pte Ltd (Singapore), and Qualmac Ltd (New Zealand) are trusted contract Private Label suppliers to leading Australian and New Zealand supermarkets.
We specialise in delivering a quality-assured Asian supply chain, reducing manufacturing risk while ensuring products consistently meet stringent quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements. Through strong supplier partnerships and robust quality systems, we support our customers in bringing safe, reliable, and compliant products to market with confidence.
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer (Industrial) to join our growing team. This role is critical to maintaining product integrity, supplier compliance, and brand protection across a global supply chain.
You will be involved across the full product lifecycle — from supplier qualification and risk assessment through to issue resolution and compliance support within supermarket systems.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality & Partner Management
• Support the qualification and ongoing approval of manufacturing partners by assessing their quality systems, technical capability, and compliance maturity.
• Review and interpret third-party audit reports and certifications, including BRCGS, FSSC 22000, SEDEX, and amfori BSCI, ensuring alignment with Qualmac and supermarket expectations.
• Monitor supplier performance, identify trends and risks, and work collaboratively with suppliers to drive continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance & Risk Mitigation
• Evaluate product specifications, test results, and manufacturing controls to proactively identify quality and food safety risks across the product lifecycle.
• Lead investigations into quality incidents, deviations, or customer concerns using structured problem-solving tools and root cause analysis.
• Coordinate, track, and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure sustainable outcomes and prevent recurrence.
• Apply recognised quality frameworks such as GMP, HACCP, and ISO-aligned systems to support consistent product outcomes and audit readiness.
Regulatory Compliance & Supply Chain Support
• Work closely with internal logistics and operations teams to ensure products move compliantly through international supply chains.
• Support the preparation, maintenance, and submission of quality documentation required for supermarket and customer compliance platforms (e.g. Ariba).
• Assist in maintaining audit-ready systems and contribute to internal reviews, external audits, and continuous improvement of quality and safety processes.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of quality, safety, and compliance procedures that protect product integrity and brand reputation.
About You
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Chemical, or related discipline).
• Proven experience in a Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering role within manufacturing, food, FMCG, or supply chain environments.
• Experience reviewing supplier audits and certifications such as BRCGS, FSSC 22000, SEDEX, and amfori BSCI.
• Familiarity with supermarket quality systems and compliance platforms (e.g. Ariba).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of international trade, logistics, and customs regulations is advantageous.
