Role Description
- Job Title: Quality Control Engineer – PEB Fabrication
- Reports To: Fabrication Manager / QA Head
- Location: Chennai/ Coimbatore
- Type: Full-Time
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Verify raw steel (plates, angles, channels) against mill certs & chemical/physical test reports
- Inspect cutting, drilling, welding, grinding — per approved shop drawings & ISO 3834 / AWS D1.1
- Measure profile accuracy (straightness, squareness, hole dia) using calipers, gauges, templates
- Witness NDT (UT/MT/PT) on critical welds — cross-check with third-party reports
- Check surface prep (Sa 2½ / SSPC-SP6) before priming — confirm cleanliness & anchor profile
- Confirm primer DFT (min 50–75µm as per spec) — record per section, tag & photo
- Audit packing list, marking, bundle IDs — ensure traceability to PO & drawing revision
- Log daily QC checks → submit weekly compliance report to client/fabrication head
- Raise & track NCRs, initiate hold tags, approve concessions (with engineering sign-off)
Must have Qualifications:
- 3–5 yrs in steel/PEB fabrication QC (ISO 9001 shop preferred)
- BE (Mech)
- Familiar with IS 2062, IS 808, ASTM A36/A572, AWS D1.1
- Tools: Vernier, micrometer, tape, DFT gauge, welding gauge, camera
- Basic Excel + ability to read shop drawings & BOM
