The Senior Quantity Surveyor plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the cost aspects of the assigned construction projects. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in quantity surveying, a thorough understanding of construction methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This role is a Subject Matter Expert level position.
Cost Management:Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, ensuring accurate cost estimation and allocation for various project elements.Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify potential savings, cost overruns, and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions. Quantity Surveying:Perform detailed quantity take-offs and measurements for materials, labor, and equipment required for construction projects.Regularly update and maintain accurate records of quantities, variations, and cost implications throughout the project lifecycle. Contract Administration:Administer and manage construction subcontracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to negotiate favourable terms and conditions in subcontracts with suppliers and subcontractors. Cost Reporting:Generate and present regular cost reports to project stakeholders, highlighting budget variances and potential risks.Provide insights into financial trends, cost forecasts, and budgetary implications. Collaboration:Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.Participate in project meetings, providing expert advice on cost-related matters. Risk Management:Identify potential risks related to costs and propose mitigation strategies to ensure the financial success of projects.Collaborate with project teams to implement risk management plans and monitor risk factors throughout the project lifecycle. Quality Assurance:Ensure that all quantity surveying activities adhere to industry standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.Implement and maintain quality assurance processes for cost-related activities within the Technical Department. Continuous Improvement:Stay updated on industry trends, construction technologies, and cost management best practices.Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in quantity surveying processes. LeadershipManage and lead a package or multiple packages of work of up to $300M.Oversee and mentor QS, Junior QS and graduate staff.Be responsible for the outputs of the team associated with the package or packages of work assigned. Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and cost management principles. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Proficiency in relevant software tools and applications. Good leadership skills and a team player. Time management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. RICS or CIOB membership Minimum experience of 10 years in quantity surveying within the construction industry, preferably with a Main Contractor. Middle East experience is highly preferred.
