Position title

  • QVW Technical Architect

Overview

Reporting to QVW Head of Development, we are looking for an Technical Architect to join our team and help drive the Qinecsa Vigilance Workbench (QVW) SaaS platform forward. This role bridges application engineering, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms to deliver secure, high-performance, and resilient systems aligned with business and enterprise architecture standards.

Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end architecture for web services, APIs, and data pipelines
  • Create landscape for existing platform
  • Act as the technical authority for system design, integration patterns, and platform scalability
  • Establish architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices
  • Review and approve solution designs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and security guidelines
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to development and data engineering teams

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Architect cloud-native solutions using AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to implement scalable environments
  • Partner with product owners, engineering leads, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into architectural solutions
  • Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Support delivery teams through design reviews and technical troubleshooting
  • Define API standards, versioning, authentication, authorization, and throttling strategies
  • Ensure service reliability, scalability, and observability (logging, monitoring, tracing)
  • Support microservices and service-oriented architectures
  • Integrate third-party and internal systems securely and efficiently
  • Experience creating secure multi-tier software solutions including avoidance and mitigation patterns for current and previous OWASP top-10
  • Architect batch and streaming data pipelines
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, and reliability
  • Guide the design of data lakes, lakehouses, and data warehouses
  • Optimize data platforms for performance, cost, and scalability

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Experience with the following would be considered a plus:

  • Cloud AWS platform
  • Experience with Linux and PostgreSQL
  • User experience design
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps practices
  • Architecture certifications (TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Architect)
  • Experience developing Healthcare or Life Sciences SaaS applications and/or building software for regulated environments

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related field from a four-year university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering or data engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years in an architecture or senior technical leadership role
  • Strong experience designing web services and APIs
  • Deep understanding of data engineering concepts and architectures
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Java, Python, Scala, or similar)

Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures
