Job Description – R&D Chemist (Cosmetics)

Job Title:  R&D Chemist

Department:  Research & Development

Reporting To:  R&D Manager / Head – R&D

Location:  Faridabad

Purpose of the Role:
To research, develop, and optimize cosmetic and personal care formulations in line with regulatory, quality, safety, and customer
requirements, supporting new product development and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and improve cosmetic formulations such as creams, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, serums, gels, soaps, and other personal care products.
Conduct laboratory trials, stability studies, compatibility testing, and performance evaluations.
Select and evaluate raw materials including actives, fragrances, preservatives, and packaging compatibility.
Prepare and maintain complete R&D documentation including formulation records, SOPs.
Support scale-up, pilot trials, and technology transfer to manufacturing.
Collaborate with QA, Production, Regulatory, Procurement, and Marketing teams.
Ensure laboratory safety, hygiene, and proper chemical handling practices.
Keep abreast of new cosmetic ingredients, market trends, and innovation opportunities.

Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of cosmetic chemistry and formulation science
Hands-on experience in emulsions, surfactants, preservatives, and actives
Knowledge of cosmetic GMP and regulatory requirements
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Documentation and report-writing capability
Cross-functional coordination and communication skills

Educational Qualification:
M.Sc. in Chemistry.

Experience:
1–5 years of experience in cosmetic or personal care R&D

Timely development and successful launch of new formulations
Stability and performance success rate
Compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements
Documentation accuracy and audit readiness
Support to manufacturing and quality improvement
