The Research and Development (R&D) Mechanical Engineer plays a critical role in driving innovation through the design, development, and implementation of new materials, products, and manufacturing processes. This position directly supports the strategic growth of the organization by optimizing existing systems and delivering advanced mechanical solutions to meet evolving market and customer demands.
Acting as a key interface between market needs and technical implementation, the R&D Engineer translates customer requirements into functional designs, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. The role involves hands-on experimentation, prototyping, testing, and data analysis to validate new concepts or enhance existing product lines.
The R&D Mechanical Engineer is expected to contribute independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, exercising sound engineering judgment and creative problem-solving. This position also includes reviewing patents, benchmarking competitive technologies, and identifying opportunities for innovation in design and material applications.
Primary Responsibilities
Design and develop molds and dies based on material performance characteristics.Create and implement custom tools and fixtures to improve efficiency, repeatability, and process reliability.Develop capital charter proposals and manage the implementation of capital projectsCreate CAD drawings for new equipment / toolingReview and validate tool and mold requisitions to ensure compliance with required specifications and standards.Apply knowledge of material properties to optimize durability, functionality, and manufacturability of products.Conduct experiments, mechanical testing, and data analysis for validation of new and existing product lines.Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and development teams to ensure seamless process integration and scalability.Research emerging technologies, materials, and industry trends to inform design decisions.Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, and participate in cross-functional design reviews.Evaluate patents and competitor products to identify opportunities for innovation.Other duties:
Provide Testing Support to Sales and Marketing Teams on Bench-Marking and Reverse Engineering.Support R&D and production departments in maintaining material and process quality standards.Write technical white papersPerform Data analysis based on statistical studies Provide Testing Support on Project Validation, IQ/OQ/PQ.Provide Testing Support Materials Qualification.Provide Testing Support for Material Test Plans.Maintain and Update Test Logs and Prepare Test ReportsDevelop in-depth knowledge of product and material standards relating to the company’s market development plans and growth modelLead A3 Projects with Gantt chartFamiliarity with ERP systemCreate and modify ECN documents on Visual Requirements
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.+3 years of proven experience in mechanical design, maintenance, and/or R&D functions as an engineer in a manufacturing environment.Project experience in capital equipment procurement and installation.Project experience in mold and tool designTrouble shooting experience on mechanical and electromechanical systems.Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and mechanical simulation tools.Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power point proficiencyStrong analytical and problem-solving skills (Minitab knowledge preferred).Knowledge of manufacturing processes: CNC, injection molding, composite materials.Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
