Job Description
R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER I
Posting Start Date: 1/22/26
At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
Job Description:
**Job Overview**
As a R&D/PRODUCT DVL ENGINEER in the Digital Data Networks business within TE Connectivity you will run thermal simulations for high-speed IO products, connectors, heat sink, cable assembly, and liquid Cold plate assembly products used in data centre. In this role you will be responsible for the thermal simulations of new products, from market definition through production and release. You will conceive original thermal simulation for new products/solutions and perform simulation for design guidance. You will perform thermal analysis, cooperate with product development engineers for designs, and coordinate support thermal testing (such as setup and testing). Interaction with product development engineers, marketing and sales personnel, customers and other engineering areas during the pre-production stages of new products is also an important part of this role.
**Job Responsibilities:**
• Work for the development and implementation of complex Thermal simulation models to optimize manufacturing, designs or processes. (thermal simulation of current carrying products like connectors, heat sink, cable assembly and bus bar assembly products)
o Deploy CFD Techniques – using Software tools like Ansys Work Bench, (AEDT) ICEPAK, Fluent, etc…
o Perform calculation & simulation on temperature distribution over system
o Proficient in simplifying complex CAD geometries for efficient thermal simulation analysis by utilizing software tools like Ansys Spaceclaim and Ansys Discovery
o Analyzing simulation results to identify areas for improvement.
o Excellent knowledge of heat radiation, heat conduction, heat convection and fluid flow mechanics, including material properties of metal, plastic, glue, liquid and etc.
o Basic knowledge of mechanical design. Can collaborate with designer, manufacturing, and testing teams to correlate CFD results with physical testing.
• Translate actual problem to CFD model, interpret analysis results and select best solution which includes non-linear analysis under different physics.
• Collaborate with design & validation teams to enhance the design optimization.
**Qualifications and Technical Skills:**
Bachelor’s/ Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
Bachelor degree with 2 year experience/or Masters with 0-1 year experience.
Knowledge in relevant thermal simulation and thermal management, including but not limited to, joule heating, heat dissipation, DFMEA, product application, etc.
**Compentent** in thermal simulation software tools (Ansys ICEPAK preferred) with experience in thermal modeling including simplify model, boundary setup, material setting, meshing, PDM link Data Manager and general knowledge in simulation applications such as Spaceclaim, Hypermesh, or others used only in simulation.
**Competent** in simulation outputs including reports, communication.
**Awareness** in raw material and product application
**Competent** in heat dissipation including conduction, radiation and convection
**Awareness** in electrical connector and related products (connector, bus bar, cable assembly, heat sink, cold plate, etc.) with experience driving design.
**Awareness** in thermal management including air cooling and liquid cooling.
**Working knowledge** of thermal testing
