We ensure that film productions from Universal Studios are released in cinemas across Spain. Marketing, distribution, and licensing are among our core responsibilities. The studio’s global successes include major film franchises such as JURASSIC WORLD, FAST & FURIOUS, and THE MINIONS. We are also well positioned in the arthouse segment thanks to our Focus Features studio.

Our office is located in Madrid and we handle the marketing and distribution of around 40 new theatrical releases each year.

The Regional Booker - Theatrical Film Distribution - is a key member of the Sales Team, responsible for driving revenue through the strategic booking, placement, and negotiation of film titles across the whole cinema exhibition landscape. This includes new releases, re-releases, special content, festival bookings, and any other form of content intended for theatrical distribution.

Reporting directly to the Sales & Booking Manager, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping and executing commercial distribution strategies to maximize box office performance, while cultivating long-term relationships with exhibitors, both major chains and independent cinemas. This position contributed directly to elevating the value of the company’s theatrical operations supporting the health of the industry overall.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute sales and booking strategies for all theatrical releases within the Spanish market.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen commercial relationships with cinema chains, independent exhibitors, distribution partners, and other key stakeholders in the theatrical ecosystem.
  • Analyze box office results and performance metrics to support data driven decision making and future planning.
  • Represent the company at industry events, screenings, festivals, and film markets to promote titles and reinforce exhibitor engagement.
  • Track and monitor competitor releases,  market trends, and exhibition patterns to identify opportunities for growth and strategic positioning.
  • Work closely with Trade Marketing to align sales initiatives and promotional strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with other company areas and departments such as Finance, Operations, Marketing, Publicity, and other internal departments.
  • Ensure all contractual processes, delivery, and payment workflows are handled accurately and on schedule.
  • Involvement in DCP delivery and KDM processes ensuring timely and correct distribution.
  • Use internal sales and booking systems to manage bookings, invoicing, reporting, and other operational data.

Qualifications

The ideal Regional Booker needs to be highly organized and commercially oriented, skilled in negotiation, and strongly analytical. This role demands the ability to secure screen placements and negotiate play-weeks, oversee release schedules, and ensure optimal box office performance for each title. Furthermore, you will have:

  • Strong understanding of the theatrical landscape, cinema operations, and exhibition market dynamics.
  • Proven experience in film distribution or sales, preferably with at least 2–3 years focused on theatrical distribution.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Clear interest in business development, revenue growth, and market expansion opportunities.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple releases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Work effectively under pressure.
  • Proactive problem-solver with a positive, adaptable mindset toward change and innovation.
  • Technologically savvy. High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) and experience working with databases, booking systems, and presentation tools.
  • Business fluent in Spanish (C2), fluent in English (C1).
