Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of External Business Development Consultants responsible to generate WFG life and annuity/seg fund sales growth and achieve business targets set for WFG and Transamerica.
  • The Director in alignment with the WFG Business Development team achieves results and executes on objectives that increase licensed agents counts, first time producer sales, business retention and increased agent selling - multi-ticket and multi-product sales.
  • Empower the field force with information, tools, and resources to achieve business goals. Share knowledge of industry best practices, home office resources, marketing platforms, and other programs/processes available for success. Innovate and connect solutions to business needs.
  • Provide guidance to field leaders on strategic planning and issue resolution as needed. Conduct analysis of field performance to identify emerging trends and make recommendations to drive sales, grow and retain licensed agents, engagement, and practical risk management.
  • Engage and empower field leadership to implement WFG initiatives that improve business effectiveness.
  • Monitor agent recruiting and licensing within territories. Implement/deliver messaging, training, incentives, etc. to drive growth and meet retention objectives.
  • Consult with field leadership to ensure systems, procedures, and programs adhere to WFG/Transamerica guidelines and quality control measures. Resolve identified issues.
  • Travel regularly with Regional External Business Development Consultants providing coaching to better implement sales strategies that maximize regional sales. Coach on performance effectiveness to maximize resource efficiency. Ensure productivity and sales goals are met and exceeded consistently. Ensure effective use of territory travel/entertainment budgets ensuring total expenditures are within budget and providing best return on investment.
  • Provide leadership and clear direction to staff. Recruit, hire, lead, coach, reward, and direct day-to-day activities of employees with a focus on professional development and achieving targeted business outcomes. Set clear performance expectations, conduct performance reviews, and as needed implement improvement measures for individual and team success.
  • Qualifications

  • Ten years of financial services industry experience, including distribution/sales management and leadership roles.
  • Life license or Life & Health license
  • Mutual Fund license
  • In-depth understanding of the life insurance industry, securities business, agency operations, products, and US or Canadian regulations.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills with the field force, home office areas, strategic partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Solid business acumen and sound judgement to identify issues/gaps, make strategic decisions, and influence outcomes aligned to objectives.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret and communicate complex concepts.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, presentation, and public-speaking skills for extensive contact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Creative self-starter with the ability to engage and motivate others.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective application of project management methodologies.
  • Proficiency using MS Office products and technologies to deliver in-person and web-based trainings/meetings.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business field
  • Bilingual: English/French/Spanish/Punjabi (oral and written) as required in some territories
  • Proficiency using WFG/TFA platforms
  • Working Conditions

  • Remote or hybrid-remote office environment
  • Extensive travel (50-75%) to field offices, business meetings, conferences/events
  • Non-standard work schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required
  • Compensation

  • The Salary for this position generally ranges between $100,000 - $130,000 CAD annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
