Regional Director, Business Development/Sales - 6794
Our client, an innovative and dynamic biotech company headquartered in Switzerland, is looking for a Regional Director, Business Development/Sales for a permanent contract based in Basel area.
Main Responsibilities
Pipeline Generation & Opportunity Development
- Build a predictable top-of-funnel pipeline by sourcing, qualifying, and developing high-quality leads aligned with the target segments within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic communities.
- Execute prospecting and outreach plans defined by global BD strategy and annual commercial priorities.
- Conduct outreach campaigns, introductory calls, and scientific needs assessments.
- Achieve and exceed annual revenue targets by partnering with the Head, Global Business Development to develop new proposals and aiding in scoping discussions, bid defenses, and contracting.
- Assist with pricing inputs, timelines, feasibility, and SOW elements.
- Ensure consistent communication and handoff to Clinical Operations post-contract.
- Identify expansion opportunities with existing customers including additional indications or multi-phase extensions.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Capture and relay customer insights to inform product roadmap and endpoint development.
- Partner with Medical Affairs and Marketing to create stakeholder maps, establish key opinion leader relationships, conduct outreach campaigns and plan conference activities.
Sales Process Discipline
- Maintain rigorous CRM usage and adherence to sales processes.
- Track and report agreed KPIs (e.g., lead conversion, activity levels, opportunity progression) to support forecasting and achievement of revenue goals.
- Provide weekly updates on pipeline health, customer engagements, and business opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Swiss working/residency permit and/or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
- 4–8+ years of experience in business development or sales within CROs, digital biomarker companies, clinical technology vendors, or neuroscience-focused R&D organizations.
- Demonstrated success generating and progressing a sales pipeline with biotech/pharma sponsors.
- Strong understanding of clinical development.
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with proposal development, pricing models, and SOW structures.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of time (depending on location)
- Existing network within the biotech and neuroscience R&D ecosystem.
- Ability to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into clear commercial conversations.
- Experience in early-stage or high-growth environments.
- Commercial mindset with scientific fluency.
- Strong consultative selling and needs discovery skills.
- High attention to detail, especially in proposals and CRM.
- Resilience and adaptability in a scaling environment.
