Job Summary
:The Regional Sales Manager leverages significant sales leadership experience, knowledge of the commercial landscape and expertise in the application of Cognex technology to achieve the revenue goal of their region and lead sales execution across multiple sales districts that constitute a significant portion or all of a region’s revenue. Candidates for the role will need to be able to closely collaborate with supporting functional teams. The Regional Sales Manager typically oversees a business which constitutes a significant portion of Cognex’ annual revenue and/or manages an organization constituting a significant part of Cognex’ sales headcount. A significant impact on attainment of the annual business plan of the region differentiates this role from lower-level roles within the sales organization.
Essential Functions:Implements sales strategies that achieve ambitious annual sales plansProvides dynamic and compelling leadership to the team, inspiring excellence in sales executionCollaborates with leaders of supporting functional teams to coordinate cross-functional execution of the businessSupports Sales Directors and Sales Vice Presidents in preparing for the financial budgeting process. Consults with Product Marketing teams to improve understanding of industry requirements, competitive threats and the opportunity landscape.Designs territories and allocates resources in order to maximize bookingsRecruits the industry’s best sales talent to join Cognex and develops high-potential internal talentMay periodically participate in the monthly RPL meetings, as a developmental opportunity.Conducts high level customer visits, observes sales processes and engages with the field sales team in order to improve sales efficiencyPreserves and enhances Cognex cultureKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience selling at a high level within organizations. Knowledge and experience working with Customer Relationship Management software to manage business. Uses defined sales process to deliver desired results on a consistent basis. Leadership, coaching and talent development skills. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently is required.
Minimum education and work experience required: Technical Degree and 10 to 20 years equivalent work experience, of which at least 10 years of experience leading a high-performing sales organization in industrial automation or similar field. Proven sales experience and track record for selling into organizations where engineering is a key decision maker. MBA Preferred. Willingness to travel extensively (50%+-)
