About the Role

ROLE

The Client Group in Tokyo has an opening for a Relationship Analyst (“RA”). The successful candidate will be an integral member of our Tokyo team and will be primarily responsible for supporting and strengthening our relationships with institutional clients.

Commanding a thorough knowledge of our business, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, the RA will work closely with the business team on a portfolio of institutional relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The RA will assist and partner in the core aspects of business development, relationship management, and client servicing, including:

  • Client/prospect meeting life cycle – coordination and preparation for meetings – materials, briefing notes, meeting notes, follow ups.
  • Respond to client/prospects inquiries on a wide range of topics (product, portfolio, market/investment content related, servicing, etc.), often under significant time pressure.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with appropriate client/prospect contacts and participate in external meetings as appropriate.
  • Prospect support – qualifying and coordinating aspects of the sales lifecycle, including qualification of opportunities, RFP coordination, pitch material coordination, follow ups.
  • Build their internal network relationships and manage internal stakeholders for effective collaboration.
  • Incorporate product knowledge with firm awareness, the Analyst will be required to effectively communicate client expectations with a variety of internal constituents including portfolio services, legal and compliance, portfolio management, product management, investment operations, trading, and other functions.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    The successful candidate will have a measure of experience in the asset management industry and knowledge of capital markets.

  • In-depth knowledge of equity, fixed income, and/or multi-asset investment products is strongly preferred.
  • Interest in the business of investment management, a desire to work in a team-based and collaborative environment, and an analytical/problem-solving orientation are required.
  • The successful candidate should be organized and have strong attention to details; strong multi-tasking and time management skills; able to deliver at a high capacity to improve productivity and efficiency; is a self-starter and able to work independently; mature and strong professionalism.
  • Candidates should possess a demonstrable track record of achievement, capacity for differentiated thinking, strong work ethic, and the willingness to work with others. Strong presentation skills and client-facing experience are highly preferred.
  • Other required qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in client servicing roles within the investment industry
  • Direct buy-side experience supporting institutional client relationships in Japan preferred
  • Strong academic credentials including a bachelor’s degree with preference given to candidates who have undertaken post-graduate work or are progressing towards a CFA
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in both Japanese and English
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office, specifically in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Sound business judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to express oneself in both individual and group settings are a must. Likewise, the ability to communicate in a creative manner is a required skill set.
