Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast‑furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate three steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.

Job Description

A rare opportunity exists for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join the team at our Capcoal mine site. You will be a key part of this operation and will deliver the performance analysis of assets at the Coal Handling Prep Plant (CHPP) to deliver long‑term asset improvements across the operations. You will value collaborative relationships to safely drive continuous improvement and innovation.

In addition, you will be responsible to lead the defect elimination process and assist in managing the equipment life cycle asset management strategy including:

  • Develop reliability reports for the CHPP assets and coordinate delay analysis meetings.
  • Coordinate the defect elimination program for the site in a timely manner, utilising various forms of root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Develop and review strategies for equipment maintenance and monitoring using reliability‑centered maintenance principals.
  • Failure and delay data reporting and analysis.
  • Assisting with management of the site warranty claims and failure investigations.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical/Electrical/Reliability Engineering or trade experience (preferably Coal).
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a processing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against set targets.
  • Experience delivering best practice.
  • Ability to understand functionality of business systems and provide relevant data for business purposes.
  • Track record in developing continuous improvement ideas.
  • In depth knowledge of Maintenance systems.
  • An understanding of the coal mining process.
  • Knowledge of relevant mining legislation.
  • A high level of planning and problem‑solving ability.
  • Understanding of key safety risks and ways to mitigate these.
