About the lab

Our research focuses on understanding the role of glycogen in the brain under physiological and pathological conditions. Glycogen is stored at low concentrations in the brain compared to other tissues, but its abnormal accumulation is linked to severe neurodegenerative diseases such as Lafora disease (LD) . Using mouse models, we investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration caused by glycogen accumulation and explore its involvement in other neurological disorders.
