Work description
The work plan for this grant includes the following main activities:
Study and design of the cost estimation mechanism: review of the state of the art and definition of the cost estimation mechanism in an optimizer.
Development of the mechanism: implementation of the cost estimation prototype in an optimizer.
Experimental evaluation: validation of the implemented mechanism and performance evaluation using benchmarks.
The tasks described in this work plan require the application and development of concepts and techniques from the areas of Computer Engineering, typically taught in courses that form the core of the Computer Engineering curriculum.
Academic Qualifications
BSc Degree in Informatics Engineering or similar.
Minimum profile required
Solid knowledge of distributed systems.
Solid knowledge of query optimizers.
Hands-on experience with SQL.
