    Junior Researcher participates and/ supports in design of projects and conducts research projects in support of global primary research plan.

    Department/team: Finance / Customer Insights and Analytics team

    Reports to: Manager, Research & Analytics

    Section 1: Responsibility Summary

    Under supervision of superior:

  • Collects and analyzes data. Synthesizes primary research data with transactional, behavioral, demographic and segment data to inform stakeholders of business issues and opportunities
  • Continuously drives toward reporting improvement and efficiency by simplifying and automating where possible, eliminating redundancy across the organization, refining metrics, and building new reports to support decision-making
  • Creates and distributes regular reports
  • Employs rigorous research methodologies. Employs new methodologies and technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of results
  • Provides data and analysis to support global consumer insights
  • Participates in communicating research results to executives and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrates proficiency in questionnaire design, survey execution, data analysis and communication of results. Proactively manages primary research projects to maintain rigorous methodology
  • Section 2: Required skills

  • 3-5 years or more of market research experience
  • Native level in Japanese and fluent in English (at least TOEIC 700)
  • Excel skills
  • Section 3: Other critical skills/knowledge

    Experience and /or has foundational knowledge to:
    understand research methodologies, including survey design, survey programming, survey analysis, and focus group design. 

  • conduct secondary sources and use of secondary survey research. 
  • conduct focus group moderation, with professional certification preferred
  • develop presentation of survey results and translation of complex findings into layman’s terms
  • synthesize survey results with other data sources
  • develop strong analytic skills
  • develop statistical methods
  • Skilled in or knowledge of data related software (SAS, SPSS, ASSUM, Quantum etc, R,
  •  Excel macro, Office Scripts etc)
  • Skilled in or knowledge of automation related software (Python, Excel macro, Office Scripts etc)
  • Skilled in or knowledge of survey building related software (Confirmit, Qualtrics, Questant, QIQUMO, Forms etc)
