Resource Recovery Officer

Public Sector People are partnering with a local government organisation to recruit for an Resource Recovery Officer
  
Contract: 6 months | Immediate Start
Hourly Pay Rate: $50 p/h + Super
  
Responsibilities: 

• Conduct on-site assessments of unit block bin bays to verify capacity, spacing and access
• Audit number and types of bins and recommend adjustments to ensure correct servicing levels
• Use an iPad to complete digital assessment forms, capture photos and update records in real time
• Make judgement calls on bin placement, spacing, contamination risks and safety considerations
• Liaise and coordinate with building managers to arrange bin changes, access and follow-ups
• Engage with residents on site, answer questions and provide basic waste and recycling guidance
• Handle inbound and outbound calls to confirm details, book visits and provide updates
• Identify issues (overflows, contamination, damaged bins) and raise service requests/work orders
• Prepare brief reports and submit daily activity updates and site notes
• Drive between locations safely and efficiently, following council WHS procedures

  
Essential:

• 2+ years experience in an administration support role within local government or working in a politically sensitive environment
• Current valid driver licence
• Confident using iPad/tablet apps and digital forms
• Experience in waste services, resource recovery or similar field-based role
• Strong customer service and communication skills, comfortable speaking with residents and stakeholders
• Practical decision-making in the field and sound judgement on spacing and service needs
• Knowledge of waste and recycling streams, common contamination issues and bin configurations
